HOT TAKES WANTED!

Seriously. In this week’s video, sponsored by Spotlight Bullion, I’m tier ranking all gold bullion and coins - and I want to hear from you.

It’s safe to say that I’ve got a few controversial opinions of my own here, so don’t hold back. I mean, if you can’t be honest in the anonymous comments section of a YouTube video, when can you be?

I (probably) won’t hold it against you.

This week’s question is from Reddit:

OK. Firstly, the short answer here is no.

But this is a great opportunity to explore what it actually means to be a rare coin. Just because something is hard to find in circulation doesn’t mean that it’s actually rare.

For example, the 1943 steel cent is “hard to find” in circulation. That’s not because it’s rare, but rather because it’s unusual. As a result, people over the years have been pulling it out of circulation. In fact, over a billion of them were minted.

To put things into perspective for this 2009 quarter, there are over 636 million across the 6 different designs minted that year. So if you assume there are million coin collectors out there interested in this coin, there would be 636 of these coins per interested collector.

So, bottom line, if you’ve got a roll of these coins, it’s better to use it to buy some silver, or a stock that you like.
